And I’m finding my very un-new 944 to be very very cool. I’ve been using my old toy as my commuter car the last couple of weeks and the more I drive it the more I like it! While my extremely comfortable, brand new SUV sit’s forlornly home in the garage all by it’self.
Anyone else get a bigger kick out of riding around in the old-ass thing that needs a lot of attention?

I love driving my 924 anywhere and everywhere I can!
It’s down right now due to some janky fuel pump wiring that I should have addressed much sooner than I did, but I can’t wait to have it on the road again! Next year I’m going to attempt to patch the rusty floor. The car needs lots of attention in other places as well but it runs and drives so it’s a fix as I go kind of car.

I definitely have a time and place for either the Cougar or Tacoma. I don’t put a ton of miles on either, so it’s a treat either time I drive them. I’m sure once the car is fixed up a little bit more, it’s usage will increase as well. I do comment to my wife though, that’s it’s funny that the $30k+ truck never even gets a glance from other people. The $3k Cougar always gets waves and compliments.
I definitely appreciate the Cougar more when I drive it. Just a different feeling from a different era. Get out of town and onto some back roads and it’s like I could be back in 1967.

That’s how I bought it, still the 4 x 108 mm hubs on there. I missed the opportunity to pull off a complete 944 suspension setup of a junkyard car and I’m still kicking myself.

I do, right up until my 944 didn’t start when I was trying to return from home for my lunch break. Hopped on my bike, and got a flat half way back to work. Now Im sad and questioning my life choices.

Your car AND your bike were telling you to take the afternoon off. Was the BMW out of commission too, cause that’s a sign from above.

I would love even more an old-ass thing that doesn’t need any attention and I can beat on without reservation. Too bad such a thing does not exist. But at least we can get close:

Ummm.... this “we” can’t get remotely close to that :-D - I shall continue to beat on my cheap cars, which always come with a large bucket of attention grabbers. If I was a smart man I’d work on buying a well cared for example of whatever I’m chasing instead of the bottom of the barrel.

I just like kit cars, but there is something to be said for even the most beat to shit original. I would like to see for myself someday.
